Young Academics is one of NSW’s fastest-growing early learning providers, with 50+ centres and major expansion underway. With growth comes opportunity, and we’re now looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance Team.
About the role:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting month-end processes, and maintaining strong financial controls across the company. This role ensures key financial activities are completed efficiently, financial data is reliable, and all reporting obligations are met.
This full-time role is based at our Head Office, located in Homebush West.
Role Objectives & Responsibilities:
Prepare and post end-of-month journals, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Manage online reporting dashboards, ensuring accurate data, both financial and non-financial.
Analyse financial data to identify trends, improve profitability, and inform strategic decisions.
Cash flow management: Monitor cash levels, forecast cash flow.
Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, controls, and reporting processes.
Prepare, maintain and analyse Fixed Assets registers.
Preparation of BAS returns, including analysis of GST.
Track and manage grant funds, subsidies, and other funding sources to ensure proper allocation.
Review of Daily bank reconciliations prepared, with all exceptions investigated.
Oversee or support accounts payable/receivable processes as required.
Review and ensure accuracy of supplier invoices, staff reimbursements, and card transactions.
About You and Experience needed to be Successful:
You are a detail-oriented and solutions-focused accountant who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys contributing to a purpose-driven organisation.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
CPA or CA qualification (or currently working towards).
4–6 years’ accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting requirements.
Experience with accounting Sun systems or similar, plus advanced Excel skills.
Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
